Semarang, May 25, 2026 – Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) has once again strengthened its international academic network by hosting the UNDIP Global Classroom (UGC) for the Computational Physics course. The event, held virtually on May 20 and 25, 2026, featured an international academic, Prof. Dr. Ir. Syafei Samaun from King Abdulaziz University, Saudi Arabia, as the keynote speaker.
The international lecture was attended by around 130 participants, consisting of Universitas Diponegoro students as well as attendees from various academic backgrounds. The event took place interactively via the Zoom platform and is part of UNDIP’s commitment to delivering a global-standard learning experience.
On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Ir. Syafei Samaun delivered a lecture on solving differential equations using the Euler Method and the Runge-Kutta Method. Both are numerical methods widely used to solve various scientific and engineering problems, particularly when analytical solutions are difficult to obtain.
In his presentation, the speaker explained the fundamental concepts of differential equations, the differences between linear and nonlinear differential equations, and the implementation steps of the Euler and Runge-Kutta algorithms in solving various computational cases. The material was also complemented with application examples using computing tools, providing participants with a more practical and applicable understanding.
The lecture atmosphere was dynamic. Participants actively engaged in the discussion, raising various questions regarding the implementation of numerical methods, calculation accuracy levels, and their utilization in research within physics, engineering, and other applied sciences.
Hosting the UNDIP Global Classroom is one of Universitas Diponegoro’s strategies to enhance education quality through collaboration with international experts. This program not only enriches students’ insights but also opens up opportunities for academic and research cooperation with overseas universities.
Through this activity, students are expected to gain a deeper understanding of the core concepts of computational physics and become capable of effectively implementing numerical methods to solve various scientific problems. The presence of an international speaker also serves as a motivation for students to continuously elevate their academic competence and broaden their global perspective in scientific development.
